Galley 25 Hosts Art Talk by Paula Marion
Gallery 25 is pleased to host an art talk by Paula Marian entitled: Traditional Pottery and Global Change, Impressions of a Traveling Potter on Sunday August 19th from 2-3:30PM. The talk is in conjunction with CT Clay Artists Show on display at the gallery from August 2-26.
In 2000, Paula Marian was awarded a grant to research the glaze technique of slip trailing that flourishes in the traditional pottery village of Olari, Romania. Recently she returned to observe changes in the Olari pottery scene since Romania joined the European Union. In her Art Talk, Paula will illustrate the slip trailing technique with the traditional pottery tools of Olari, show samples of the unique pottery style, explain how she uses a variation of the technique in her own pottery and discuss how participation in the EU makes Romanian pottery availableglobally. This talk is based on Paula's article in Studio Potter Magazine.
Gallery 25 is conveniently located at 11 Railroad Street at the historic train station in New Milford, Connecticut. For further information: http://newmilfordgallery25.blogspot.com (phone 860-355-6009). Admission is free. Ample free parking is available.
