The Boardman Store at the New Milford Historical Society

Please join Peter Cronin as he presents A Soldier in the Great War at the New Milford Historical Society Museum on Sunday June 4th at 2:00 pm. The talk will compliment the current exhibit at the Historical Society entitled Warriors on the Home Front: American Women and WWI (1917-1919), which will be on view until June 4, 2017. The talk will be a PowerPoint presentation about Clarence Stone, a local hero from New Milford that died during WWI. Near the end of the war, the 308th Infantry participated in a battle on the “Siegfried Line” on the Western Front. Hoping to chase the German forces away from this line to end the war, Private Clarence Stone was killed in action.

Peter Cronin, a Brookfield resident is a relative of Clarence Stone, has done extensive research about this local hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country during WWI. Mr. Cronin has been involved with the Brookfield Historical Society for many years giving presentations of various historical events.
