AWS Dog Days of Summer
Animal Welfare Society, Inc. will host its 11th annual Dog Days of Summer on Saturday Sept. 26 at the AWS shelter at 8 Dodd Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The all-day dog-friendly family event is open to all dog owners, friends, and friendly dogs on non-retractable leashes. Admission is $3 per person or $5 for a family.
AWS holds Dog Days as a day of fun for the family and their dogs, and as a fundraiser for the animals cared for by the nonprofit organization.
The event will feature demonstrations, food, numerous booths and local vendors, and items will be available for purchase for both pets and people. Demonstrations include a police dog demo, agility try-outs, a fly-ball demo, freestyle dancing, and a search and rescue demo. There will also be a parade of rescue dogs, cheesy-puff race, canine good citizen testing, blessing of the animals, and more games for owners and their dogs.
All proceeds benefit Animal Welfare Society, Inc., an independent, 501c3 non-profit, non-destroy organization founded in 1965. AWS provides food, shelter and veterinary care to homeless and abandoned dogs and cats from Brookfield, Bridgewater, New Milford, Roxbury and Washington, while working to place them in responsible and caring homes.
